On January 2, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued a notice regarding the prevention of adding Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) and their derivatives or analogues to foods.
2.Opinions on Developing the Silver Economy to Enhance the Well-being of the
Elderly
On January 15, the State Council released Opinions on Developing the Silver Economy to Enhance the Well-Being of the Elderly. Key points include encouraging research and development of health food products and Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMPs) suitable for the elderly's dietary needs, as well as customizing manuals and promotional materials for elderly food, medicines, and supplies to enhance readability among the population.
3.Guidelines and Outlines for Supervision and Random Inspection for Enterprise
Food Safety Managers
On January 30, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued Guidelines and an Outline for Supervision and Random Inspection for Enterprise Food Safety Managers. These documents will be effective from March 1, 2024.
4.Notice on the Implementation of the 2023 Standard Formulation Plan for the
Market Regulation Industry
On February 18, the State Administration for Market Regulation released the 2023 Standard Formulation Plan for the Market Regulation Industry. This includes the Guidelines for the Implementation of HACCP in Micro- and Small-sized Production Enterprises, the Code of Practice for Enterprise Food Safety Risk Control List, the Code of Practice for Information and Data Management for Food Safety Credit, the Code of Practice for Weekly and Monthly Examination of Food Safety, the Technical Guidelines for the Conduction of Food Safety Mass Satisfaction Survey, and the Code of Practice for the Classification and evaluation of Enterprise Credit Risks.
5.Highlights of Special Food Safety Regulation in 2024
On February 27, the State Administration for Market Regulation unveiled the focal points of the 2024 special food safety supervision efforts.
6.Regulations for the Implementation of the China Consumers' Rights and
Interests Protection Law
On March 15, the State Council enacted the Regulations for the Implementation of the China Consumers' Rights and Interests Protection Law, set to take effect on July 1, 2024.
7.Notice on Strengthening Food Safety Regulation for Ready-To-Cook Dishes
On March 21, the General Administration for Market Regulation, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Health and the National Health Commission issued a notice on strengthening the food safety regulations for ready-to-cook food to promote the high quality development of the industry.
